Part Time Positions (Career Building)

We are currently offering part-time positions with duties that span from board operation and on-air announcing to managing social media platforms such as updating Websites, Facebook, and Twitter.

Our radio formats include Hot Country, Classic Country, Classic/Mainstream Rock, Classic Hits, Hip Hop/R&B, and Sports. We own and operate radio stations across northeastern North Carolina, with studios in Nags Head and Elizabeth City. Our corporate office is situated in Edenton.

SALES REPRESENTATIVE/ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

Job Description:

East Carolina Radio, a 35 year old privately owned local broadcaster, is looking for an experienced radio sales winner to sell radio and our digital e-newspaper (www.outerbanksvoice.com) in northeastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks. The ideal candidate will have a track record of sales success, a good ability to develop concepts and ideas that sell, a strong developer of written proposals along with excellent presentation skills, and prior training in handling objections. This position requires a reasonable amount of prospecting and lead development.

Requirements:

-aggressive and unrelenting cold caller

-proficient in prospecting and setting up appointments with decision makers

-ability to secure at least five appointments weekly with qualified prospects

-have excellent listening skills

-strong developer of written proposals

-ability to effectively overcome client objections

-ability to sell a myriad of formats (Country, Classic Hits, Hot AC, Classic Rock, Alternative, Urban, Sports/Talk, Classic Country, Newstalk) go to www.ecri.net

Internship Opportunities

East Carolina Radio is offering internships at our Elizabeth City and Nags Head locations. This is an exciting chance for interns to gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of radio stations. Interns will have the opportunity to choose from three distinct areas of involvement:

1. Programming:

  • Engage in music research and selection.

  • Assist with on-air imaging and branding.

  • Gain experience in creative copywriting.

  • Participate in studio and production work.

  • Learn news and information gathering and dissemination techniques.

2. Engineering:

  • Gain exposure to the entire radio station technical chain.

  • Work with on-air and production studio equipment.

  • Learn about tower, antenna, and transmitter equipment.

  • Acquire skills in reading electrical schematic drawings.

  • Diagnose and repair sensitive electronic equipment.

  • Learn about LAN-WAN digital networks and the transition from analog to digital technology.

3. Marketing:

  • Conduct industry and company research.

  • Develop marketing ideas and promotional strategies.

  • Gain experience in public relations.

  • Practice copywriting for marketing materials.

  • Learn direct sales methods and engage with business owners.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a relevant academic program (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Engineering).

  • Strong interest in radio broadcasting and media.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
